Frequently Asked Questions
What can Health & Wellness Coaching do for me?
Health & Wellness Coaching provides you personalized support to help achieve your optimal health and well-being. With a holistic approach and rooted in compassion, empathy, and integrity, the coaching process empowers you to overcome obstacles and make sustainable changes one manageable step at a time.
How does the process work?
First, we discuss just what is health coaching and why you’re considering having a health coach with you on your journey. Once you decide, we determine duration and frequency, an agreement is signed and we begin the journey.
How long are the sessions?
Initial consultation is 50 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 40 minutes.
How often do we meet?
That is up to you! Most folks meet bi-weekly, and some once a month. At the start of your journey, you might prefer more frequent sessions, and as you progress, you may feel ready to handle things on your own with more time between sessions. You are in the driver’s seat!
Will insurance pay for this?
No, currently Health & Wellness Coaching is not covered under insurance. However, it may be possible for your FSA or HSA (Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account) to pay for your coaching sessions. This usually requires a letter from your provider stating the medical need for health coaching. It is best to consult with your plan administrator to review the specific policies and procedures.
Are the sessions virtual or in person?
Both. If you live in the North East Texas area (Van Zandt & Smith Counties, and surrounding area), we can meet in person. If you prefer the comfort of your own space, or live far away, we can definitely do virtual/telehealth appointments. I use Healthie, which is HIPAA compliant. No need to download the app for our sessions unless you wish to utilize the client tools available within Healthie.
I see you offer another service. What is Corrective Exercise?
Corrective exercise is a targeted approach to address and improve musculoskeletal imbalances, movement dysfunctions, or postural issues. It involves specific exercises designed to restore proper alignment, enhance mobility, and strengthen weak or underactive muscles, helping to reduce pain and prevent injury. By focusing on individual needs, corrective exercise aims to correct faulty movement patterns and promote overall functional movement, improving both performance and quality of life.
So, Corrective Exercise is like Physical Therapy?
No. Physical Therapy is used to treat specific injuries, medical conditions, or rehabilitation after surgery. It involves diagnosing physical impairments, using therapeutic interventions and exercise to restore function and alleviate pain. Physical Therapy is medically prescribed. Corrective exercise does not diagnose nor does it treat injuries. It looks at how the body moves and addresses the muscles that create that movement.
Is Corrective Exercise part of Health Coaching?
No. Health Coaching and Corrective Exercise are two different hats. A health coaching session will not be used for corrective exercise, and vice versa. However, the same compassion, empathy, and integrity brought to the coaching sessions will also be brought to the corrective exercise sessions.
